In days when space is becoming scarce, homes, apartments and even furniture are shrinking. Livable space is even shrinking at such a pace that people are actually looking to set up base on other planets too.
Yet, for now, we stay on earth a little while more and may even visit the small new hotel located on top of a small café in Vesterbro, a neighborhood Copenhagen.
The hotel proofs, that huge is a thing of the past. Today, a comfortable hotel can have just one room, one bathroom and be absolutely charming.
The One Room Hotel is a 12 meter square room, which once served as home to a shoe repairer who worked in the café below.
It remained vacant until 2012, when the owner of the 'room', Leif Thingtved took over the place. Thingtved said that the room will have a flat screen, a large royal Eden bed and a mini-bar. Apparently, a great deal of attention has been paid to the minutest details of the room such as the kind of lamps and pictures too.
He also said that the hotel room was 'something like stepping back in time'. When guests arrive, they will be served fruits and wine and the room will always have fresh flowers.
Booking a stay in this unique one-room hotel will surely make you experience a moment of local roots, digital detox and at the same time be at the inner skirts of the city itself. It is all about bespoke authenticity and re-connection.
A tendency many urban citizens are longing for in their everyday lives. Simple living, but with a very modern touch.
