Going “off the grid” is big and speaks to a large new wave of people who search for refuge and distance from the everyday.
So do the people living in these mobile trailers homes up in the Swiss mountains of Flumserberg, a touristy ski resort that gets completely empty in the summer.
During the summer you can still see the ski tourist environment, such as the vacation houses, ski lift buildings, restaurants, fun parks for children etc. but no one is around except for this small amount of people living in this little trailer park up on a hill above the main village.
It feels surreal especially in Switzerland, where campers are a rare sight.
Some people decided to live all year up in the mountains and start treating their trailers like home. One of the reasons is that they don’t have to pay property taxes, as their home is a movable installation. However, it's not only about the money, they call their trailers Paradiesli, which sounds like they have found their own paradise up in the mountains of Switzerland.
