So, unless you’ve been living under a rock, it might be 2013, but 20/50’s heritage style is pretty much on the mind of anyone in the proximity of the right vintage store, ABC’s Mad Men, the Sartorialist and imagination.
By the looks of this vintage menswear store in Amsterdam, you wont be lacking any key ingredients for slipping into the heritage universe, as anyone who’ll enter ‘Tommy’s True Love,’ will notice how this is not just another vintage store, but how genuine and real this place feels.
This vintage store is located in on of the popular nine streets. Even if you are not into vintage shopping, the store itself is a treat: small stairs, wooden floors and of course windows with open curtains.
Tommy True Love doesn’t only sell designers, but if you look good into the items you might just be lucky: Fur Lanvin hat, floral print Fendi tie, or a Burberry trench coat.
Tommy, the owner of the shop, is a man of detail. Everything in his shop is proof of that, be it the little vintage bows, ties, scarfs, 1920’s tailed tuxedo jackets, this little shop is full of treasures. Everywhere you look in this tiny two floor collectors paradise is displayed with love and attention to detail and I suspect he sometimes finds it hard to part with them.
Tommy used to work as a designer for Tommy Hilfiger. While sketching all the details of a classic inspired item, he fell in love with the original, he tracked more of them down and decided to stick to this.
True Love doesn’t only sells vintage fashion, they also sell antiques in his other store which is located right across from True Love.
Tommy’s True Love is located on the Prinsenstraat 4, Amsterdam. Can also be found on our shopping guide.
