A known fact (imported from America): It’s fun to make fun of hipsters. But what is a hipster really? The word “hipster,” today, stands for a wide population of confused (but undeniably fashionable) youths, and so, the word’s become more of a catch-all rather than an adjective of proper purpose.
The website American Hipster Presents has decided to reclaim the word by presenting a culture of very inspiring trendsetters through beautiful video footage; making the statement that the true definition of ‘hipster’ is really ‘creative entrepreneurship’ and hopes to prove that it’s far more interesting to actually try to understand them.
The webisode series “American Hipster Presents” basically guide you on all that is cool, as the host, Paavo Steinkamp goes to ten cities across America to profile the hottest (hipster) trendsetters across the country and explores the latest in music, art, food, fashion, and nightlife.
Each of the show’s five episodes feature a “trendsetter,” including Hayes Valley barber Shorty and food and drink consultants the Bon Vivants.
Honestly, this is the best exploration of the term that i've seen yet, as Paavo perfectly (re)uses the term as a celebration of the new wave of creative pioneers that are shaping our future.
