Why not make bicycles out of old cars? Besides the carbon emissions cars pollute our air with, once the cars are no longer on our roads, they also just pile up junkyards with their loads of waste metal.
On the other hand, cyclists do their part to save the environment and keeping themselves in shape by opting to travel on 2 wheels. That's why Lola Madrid, a Spanish creative agency, decided to design their version of the perfect bike by recycling scrap cars to create the most efficient, ecological and healthy mode of transportation.
“Bicycled is not only a new type of bike, it is also a return to the roots of biking. Every Bicycled bike is made out of real car parts, there won’t be two of a kind. That’s the key to a product designed to use as much car waste as it can.”
Each Bicycled Bike is handmade by bike shop owners, and because the parts are coming from real cars, each is unique. The frame is made from recycled metal from the body of the cars, the chain comes from a transmission belt, and the reflective lights are made from old turn signals. The seat and handlebar are covered with upholstery from the cars. Even the door handles get put to use, as new bike seat posts.
