Ondrej Pakan, from Myjava, Slovakia, captures stunning macro photos of bugs covered in tiny water droplets. The photographer, who specialises in capturing insects seconds after a downpour, said, “I get soaked waiting for the rain to finish, but it all seems worth it when you get really great shots of the insects with drops on them.”

His shots include a blue damselfly covered in water droplets staring at the camera, a ladybird with a dewdrop on its head, a fly covered in dewdrops, a hoverfly in dew, an ant covered in tiny water droplets, a bug’s eyes covered in lots of water droplets, a damselfly covered in dew, a damselfly with one large water drop on its head, a dew-soaked ant and a bug covered in dew.

Ondrej says, “It’s a challenge not letting your equipment get too wet in some of the more exotic locations. People seem to really like the colours and the way the water magnifies features of the insects.”
