Family portraits are as old as the Renaissance, but with Generations (an ongoing project since 2005) Julian Germain brings innovation to the tradition, capturing an openness and vulnerability others tend to miss. Germain has concentrated on the social and emotional ties that various forms of portraiture engender. He takes in on a genre strongly attached to values associated with sentiment and nostalgia.

Through his lens we peer not just into a living room, but into the soul of these families.
