Anima Calda is a personal project created by the young French designer Grégory Marion who is actually preparing his PHD after graduating with a Master of research in design and environment. This prototype was conceived for the festival Design Parade 05 where young designers present their projects in a competition during three days. Anima Calda was awarded with the Prize of design of the SEB group, the worldwide leader of small domestic appliances.
The project is inspired by the characteristics of the geological material of the volcanic rock. The object, based on the production of steam, is designed to cook in a spontaneous and flexible way. Placed in the middle of a table, the round open shape invites to communicate, to be close to each other and to discover the new version of the steam cooker. Looking at the drawing, I imagine the aliments, like a nice piece fish or zucchini, put on the volcanic material to be cooked. I am curious about the taste.
