Super-cool bakeries are in. The latest in this international trend is Baker D. Chirico; the second Melbourne establishment to be opened by master-baker Daniel Chirico. Designed by talented local studio, March – the interior concept is as simple as Chirico’s famed produce. Cooling/display racks weave and extend through to the ceiling – evoking the feel of a shop-sized bread basket, whilst the counter becomes one huge chopping board – gracefully and characterfully ageing over time.
The intricate yet amazing woodwork subtly juxtaposes the perfectly distressed wall opposite, whilst the tantalising simplicity extends to the shop’s effortlessly stylish signage. You want to spend the night there listening to hip Brooklyn bands and quaffing inordinately expensive, experimental cocktails.
