In collaboration with Swiss master horologist La Fabrique du Temps, Louis Vuitton embraces the world of high end watchmaking and unveil the inner workings of their new 18 karat white gold timepiece, the Tambour Minute Maker Repeater.
Packaged inside the shapely Tambour case, LV’s minute repeater caters to world travelers. The watch features a dual-time configuration, with a second time zone visible in the window at the center of the dial.
Dotted with “infinity”-inspired figure eights, the Tambour’s transparent sapphire face and base reveal miniscule gears set with 34 jewels, including brilliant crimson rubies chosen for their ability to reduce friction on their axis. “Watchmakers used to hide the movements,” says Chatti. “We wanted the mechanism to be part of the beauty of the watch.”
The manually wound movement was created in-house by LV, with assistance from an un-named independent watchmaker. The watches can be customized and are being offered in white, rose or yellow gold.
